I am an empty nester with a not so empty nest, mom to three young adults who regularly raid my fridge. I am a writer-dreamer-reader-traveler-list maker-memory keeper-tree hugger.
I tend to do things by extremes; moving from the Southern California Mohave desert to deciduous rain forest of Northern Vermont. In January 2015, I moved into the house I put on my vision board in 2008, a post and beam cape built in 1786. It sits on one acre and I’m learning to homestead and inhale the beauty of this amazing place daily. I see bees, chickens, goats and maybe a duck or two in my future. I have an apple orchard with 14 lovely lady trees, blueberries, raspberries and a plum tree. Maple tree tapping will happen in the spring. I want to grow mushrooms, learn to can, and make maple syrup. And I’m learning everything as I go.
I am a writer. I’ve proudly worked my way up from form rejections to personal rejections from senior editors. (Yea me!!) Journaling and documenting my life through photography, scrapbooking and other projects helps organize the voices and busy brain that creatives so often have to manage. Wine is an invaluable part of my writing process.
I manage my depression and social anxiety disorder with medication and laughter and an occasional good cry. I know that chocolate and coffee make the world a better place. I am learning to embrace bliss and the ‘now’ and hope to inspire you in some way as a person, spiritual being, creative or writer. I am accepting that very few things are permanent and that there’s always time to breathe and be kind. I invite you to share my adventures as I explore my one acre and the road to publication.
Thanks so much for sharing your time with me.
